Rosacea
Rosacea is a long-term skin condition that causes redness, bumps and small visible blood vessels on the face. It most often shows up on the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead.
Its exact cause is not known. It is thought to result from several factors working together, including genetics, sun exposure and certain foods or drinks that can set off symptoms.
Treatment can reduce redness, bumps and visible blood vessels and improve how the skin looks. Medications can have side effects, such as dryness, irritation and flushing. Everyday habits help too: protecting your skin from the sun, learning and avoiding your triggers, and using gentle skin care can all make rosacea easier to manage.
Rosacea is chronic, so it does not simply go away, but symptoms can improve with treatment over a period of weeks to months. A dermatologist can confirm the diagnosis and create a treatment plan suited to your skin.
